About the Institute

The foundation of Government Ayurvedic College & Hospital, Muzaffarnagar was laid in the year of 1975 in the Rampur villlage, It was done by great effort of shiksha Rishi His Holiness Swami Kalyan Dev ji Maharaj through donation of land with villagers of Rampur. Swami Kalyan Dev (1876-2004) was the follower of well known spiritual saint Swami Viveka Nand Ji & Swami Shrashanand Ji (Founder of famous Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar). He was a saint ascetic who worked in the field of education and social reform specially girls education in rural areas of western U.P. & many states through out his life. Swamiji founded more than 300 education institutions in western U.P., Haryana & Rajasthan. He was awarded the Shri Gulzari Lal Nanda honesty award, padma Shree & one of the supreme award for civilian 'Padma Bhusha' by the honourable President of India. This college administration under his hand upto 1975 to 1978, after that it undertaken by U.P. Government. Since then its administrative control is under Director, Ayurveda and Secretary, Medical Education AYUSH, Ministry of AYUSH U.P. Government.

Muzaffarnagar is situated on the halfway from Delhi to Rishikesh on NH-58. The national highway is the backbone of the road transportation for the Muzaffarnagar city as well as Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. Cities and areas of Haridwar, Rishikesh, Dehradun, Shri Badrinath Ji & Shri Kedarnath Ji are served by this highway, presently it comes under NCR. The nearest Railway station is Muzaffarnagar of Northern Railway. Muzaffarnagar is well known for its fertile soil & ultimate green belt of northern India. It is an important induatrial city with sugar, steel and paper being the major industries. Shukratal is famous religious place situated 25km from Muzaffarnagar, As per Hindu mythology here is a 1000 years old. Holy Banyan tree is known as Vatvriksha, where The Holy Bhagwat Purana was written. The Samadhi of Swami Kalyan dev ji is also here. Brahma Ji temple is situated in the town of Budhana on the banks of the Hondon river. Only two temple of Brahma one in Puskar (Rajasthan) and other in Muzaffarnagar in India. Kali-Nadi Devi Mandir, one of the city's oldest temples, Bhairo-ka-Mandir temple, Shri Golokdham (a religious place for devotees of krishna), Shiv Murti at Shiv Chowk, Bala ji Temple, Sankirtan Bhawan, polpularly known as Kirtan Bhawan holds a great mythological importance situated at heart of Muzaffarnagar city.
